June 1, Year 1 | Douglas has evolved! While I have seen an Abomasnow in person before, I didn't have the opportunity to truly study it. It reminds me of nothing so much as a yeti, a comparison I admit I find very charming especially when one considers Abomasnow's chosen environment and general behavior. Imagine: the abominable snowman was a walking tree all along, truly part of the environment in which it lives and thus able to camouflage itself seamlessly. The yeti of the Pokémon world has adapted brilliantly to its niche. In terms of personality Douglas remains outgoing and curious, though now she has adapted a somewhat more mature gruff affectation. She clapped me on the back earlier and knocked me flat. It was fantastic.
She reminds me just a little of Wendy. She has that big Corduroy personality.November 27, Year 2 | At long last Douglas has reached maximum level and is now capable of executing Mega Evolution. Eager as I am to try it, it was important to first retire Douglas to the box for some time in order to give her a rest after months of intensive training. Once my vacation in Sevii is over I will add her to my team again and we will get down to business learning to master this new ability available to us.
January 13, Year 2 | Today a Contest was announced: a unique opportunity to showcase a trainer's skill and their Pokémon's abilities. Naturally I entered, and I am taking Douglas with me. I know this is something at which she will excel. Today marks the beginning of resumed training!
January 20, Year 2 | The results of the Contest have been announced and Douglas and I placed third in the Best in Show category. It feels like the proper culmination of the past months. All the time that went into traveling up to the Ice Path, finding a Snover (and not only that but the right Snover), and then training that Snover up all the way to its level cap has been leading up to this. Not only have I made a valuable friend but everyone was able to see just how talented she is. As much as I miss my home and my family it's moments like this that make this world one I can be happy in.
