✦ Victory Road Battle Post ✦
Meet me in the parking lot behind the Dedenny's in thirty minutes if you want an asskicking.
This is a catchall for the purpose of allowing for more Pokémon battles! Think of it kind of like an IC inbox post, except instead of interaction over the Pokégear it's in-person battle threads. Go ahead and let me know below if you want a battle and any specific ideas you might have (you can also contact me any time at
mister_inkwell). You're also welcome to just go ahead and post a top-level if Ford and your character are in the same general area and you want to jump directly to a call-out. I don't mind spontaneous battles! Someone jumping out at you from the shadows unexpectedly and trying to kick your ass is kind of a staple of the franchise after all.
I've also put together a little form you can fill out if you want to quickly get across the kind of battle you're looking for and/or need a jumping-off point.
Preferred Pokémon Levels: I personally prefer a close level gap so the battle isn't super one-sided, unless it being super one-sided is the point of the thread.
Preferred Team Size: I like three on three or two on two best for roleplay purposes (a six on six battle would take quite some time!), but I'll roll with whatever.
Items Allowed: I'm good with both held items and healing items but it's very easy to find a reason for Ford not to use them if you don't want them.
Mega Evolution Allowed: I'm fine with this whether or not Ford has his Abomasnow with him.
Other Specifics: Ford's location and current team are both open to tweaking. He'd be willing to take a couple of warps or swap out some of his team members to be more level-appropriate in cases where the battle is agreed on beforehand. For random challenges on the street, what you see is what you get. I'm also totally fine with Rockets attempting to steal his Pokémon, though actual success will need to be discussed.

The flames strike Eostre and angry welts appear on her skin. She shakes out her leafy hair and stomps one pointy foot. No, no, no! This isn't how this should go! She gears herself up for another Trop Kick, but the burns twinge and she loses her concentration.]
Eostre. Pull it together. Use Stomp!
[It requires her to get in close quarters, but it'll work better than using a Grass move on a Fire type again. She steels herself and nods, recognizing that Ford is right even if she doesn't like it. She tromps over to Baldur, raises her foot and brings it down right on his paw.]

Baldur seems incredibly proud of himself for landing that will-o-wisp and he kind of regains some of his playfulness from before, hopping around excitedly- because he's allowed to be happy, darn it.]
Hey- watch out! Baldur!
[He doesn't regain full concentration on the battle until it's too late and Eostre is stamping down hard on his paw. He yelps, yoinking himself free and scooting back several feet. He shakes his paw delicately, whining. That really hurt and now he's getting nervous.]
Don't let her do that to you, love. Hit her with a quick attack!
[Elsa doesn't sound nervous- Eostre is wounded with burns, it's a strategy she's been planning for a while now and she's finally got a chance to use it. If she inflicts burn and whittles down their HP, then she'll have an easier time of winning. She's confident Baldur can pull this off.
Baldur grits his teeth and starts nyooming toward Eostre at a blindingly fast speed, bolstered by Elsa's confident tone.]

The Quick Attack knocks her down and the burn twinges again and oh, boy. She's really feeling herself too and not in a great way. How could this be happening? Eostre pushes herself back up. She can keep going.]
Stay focused. Use Double Slap.
[This is... a gamble. If she only hits twice it'll be like she didn't hit at all. But she also has a chance for five, and each one might crit. So it's a gamble that might pay off, and a gamble Eostre is willing to take.
Also it's just really satisfying to smack Baldur around a little.]

Baldur!
[Baldur steels himself and the first smack connects. Ow.
Second- not Good.
Third has Baldur tumbling sideways as she lands the crit, but he somehow manages to take control and turn his tumble into a roll so that he can get far enough out of reach of another. It's not graceful and stumbles a lot in his bid to get away, but he manages it.
Things aren't looking good. He's breathing heavy, he's shaking, but he refuses to go down- not yet. Not to her.
For a split second, Elsa considered conceding, but- for the first since she's used him in battle, she can sense his determination. A fierce desire to win. She's never felt that from him before, not like this. She doesn't have the heart to give up.]
If either of you think we're finished, you're wrong. Flamethrower!
[Baldur takes in the biggest breath of his life.
The flames start out small, as if he's too weak to really get them Going. For a second, he loses his concentration and coughs, flames sputtering out.
No. No.
He inhales just a little more and with a mighty "VULPIX!!" he manages to shoot out the biggest, deadliest burst of flames that he's ever managed before. Instead of a Flamethrower, Eostre is getting a Fire Blast coming right at her.]

Elsa...
That was incredible! That was a Fire Blast, wasn't it?

Elsa's breath is taken away by the intensity of that flame- usually Baldur's flamethrowers are kind of more like Embers than anything, but that? That was a defining moment in his progress and character.
Baldur himself seems exhausted and kind of like it's taking a moment for what happened to register. But it's dawning on him that he's won. He beat her!! WHOA!!
He's never been more excited and happy in his entire life. After all the kicking and the fighting, coming out on top is just so. Satisfying. As if catching a second win, he begins hopping and running around excitedly, running over to nuzzle and dart around Elsa's legs.]
Oh my goodness, I'm so proud! [She bends down to pet him, looking over at Ford as she does.] I think so! Wow. What an unexpected surprise! [She's laughing, both at how glad she is they won and how enthusiastic Baldur is.] That was such a fun battle, Ford! You and Eostre seem to work pretty well together.
[She doesn't sound quite so... angry, in regards to Eostre anymore. Mostly because the heat of the battle is over and she kind of got it out of her system. Mostly she's just glad for Baldurs' sake.]

[He looks down at Eostre's prone form in his arms, then reaches into one of his pockets and pulls out a revive. He slips it into her tiny mouth beneath the natural collar that covers her face.]
It was difficult at first, but I expected that from what you told me.
[Eostre stirs. She opens her eyes, sees Ford looking down at her, and reaches up to weakly bap his chin with one tiny hand. Where were you out there, you fucker, she got roasted. But it's fond, and he can tell it's fond, and that's fine.]
Hey there. You did pretty good, huh? Feeling better?
[She baps his chin again and nods. He sets her down on the ground and she wobbles a little before she finds her footing. Time to brush off her weird little puffy shorts and shake out her leaf hair. It's fine.
And then she looks over at Baldur where he's cavorting so joyously and her shoulders square up a little. She starts to walk over to him, very deliberately. Ford watches her with just a hint of trepidation. That was fun and he doesn't want it ruined because Eostre doesn't like losing.]

She does tense up when Eostre moves towards Baldur and he does as well. It seems like for a brief moment he wants to run, then remembers that hey- he won! And his confidence comes back.
As a peace offering, he's gonnaaaa just. Give her a big ole lick. See? No hard feelings. Right??]
Baldur... [Elsa can't help but sound a little exasperated but mostly amused.]

It's not that deep. It's not that deep, and he won, and Eostre can respect a display of power like that. It's one of the reasons she's taken so well to Ford: Ford is tough. She could kick him in the ankles all she liked and he barely responded, and once she realized he wasn't ever going to she stopped doing it. Now she's realizing Baldur is a little too big for her to bully. That maybe there's something about him worth respecting.
She baps him softly on his dapper little nose. Yeah. No hard feelings.
Ford looks from Elsa, to them, and then back again.]
... I think that went well.
