[mmm oh no this got depressing real fast huh]

My niece and nephew were. For a little while.

[So was his brother, but Stan was long gone by the time he arrived and he still doesn't like to think about it too much. About how cheated he feels that they could have shared this adventure together but instead he got his brother back after forty years only to lose him again.]

Luckily neither of them have quite grown into thinking they're too cool for hugs just yet, though Dipper is getting there now that he's 'officially' a teenager. Looking back on it as a man of seventy it's very endearing to see how much of a hurry they're in to grow up.

idk i can kinda see where hes coming from. i was in a huge hurry to move out and do my own thing

I'm glad as well, ultimately. It was nice while it lasted. Though I will say that growing up and getting out are two very different things.

[He's not yet quite comfortable enough with introspection to admit he didn't grow up for decades after he moved out. It's hard to admit you spent a lot of your younger years as an arrogant manchild. But he can kind of skirt around the subject.]

And thank you. I take good care of myself. That's likely why I'll make it to ninety-two.
